What you'll own as the Lead Solution Designer
The Lead Solution Designer is responsible for driving solution design excellence across projects and initiatives, setting standards, and leading others through expertise and influence rather than direct line management. The role focuses on improving ways of working, ensuring robust solution architecture, and fostering collaboration within and across teams.
Lead the solution design process for complex projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technical strategy.
Act as the primary point of contact for solution design queries, providing guidance and mentoring to other Solution Designers and project team members.
Champion best practices in solution design and documentation, continuously seeking opportunities to improve processes and methodologies.
Facilitate design workshops and working groups, ensuring active participation and knowledge sharing among stakeholders.
Collaborate with architects, business analysts, developers, and testers to ensure solutions are feasible, scalable, and meet quality standards.
Influence and drive adoption of new tools, frameworks, and approaches to enhance delivery efficiency and solution quality.
Ensure compliance with governance, standards, and policies relevant to solution design.
Support project and programme teams in impact assessments, risk identification, and mitigation planning related to solution design.
Represent solution design in governance forums and contribute to long-term strategic planning for solution architecture.
What you'll bring
Deep knowledge of the global payments industry or a strong understanding of the payments transaction life cycle.
Expertise in providing direction, technical leadership, and support to team members, without direct line management.
Extensive experience in solution design within large-scale, complex environments.
Deep understanding of solution architecture principles, design patterns, and industry best practices.
Excellent communication skills, able to articulate technical and non-technical issues to diverse audiences.
Track record of driving process improvements and embedding new ways of working.
Ability to work collaboratively across functions and geographies.
Analytical mindset, eager to solve complex problems and drive technical excellence.
Experience across the full software development and support lifecycle.
Meticulous attention to detail.
Solid experience with the Agile software development lifecycle and SAFe methodology.
Familiarity with requirements tracking systems such as JIRA or Rally.
Fluent English (written and verbal).
It’s a bonus if you have
Experience working with UNIX/Linux systems.
Experience with message-based applications.
