Make your mark at one of the biggest names in payments. We’re looking for an IT Architecture Specialist to join the ever-evolving Billing and Funding team to help us unleash the potential of every business.

What you'll own as the Architecture Specialist

Billing and Funding within Worldpay has built a pricing and billing engine using big-data tech, we are amidst an exciting phase of our technology journey moving to the cloud, making our software cloud native, our infrastructure code and using CI/CD to increase our speed of delivery.

  • We are looking to hire a top-class IT Architecture Specialist to help us on our journey. You need to have a strong Engineering background with experience in designing and building highly scalable, Idempotent, loosely coupled, event driven, distributed systems.

  • You need to have experience in both the Payments and Billing domains

  • You need experience of designing application across on-prem and AWS hosting and migrating applications between them

  • Experience with a variety of persistence and AWS services: database, s3, Kafka, EMR, ECS, CloudWatch

  • Experience with Cloud Serverless principles

  • You should be capable of leading by example and have experience of implementing design principles and roadmaps across a team

  • You should be passionate about technology, be ready to get hands on and build POC’s to show how things should be done

  • You would be expected to guide the teams on our journey towards:

    • Fostering an engineering mindset within the team

    • Establishing industry best practices for software development

    • Adoption of DevOps best practices, tools and technologies

What you'll bring

  • General

    • Recent hands-on experience, not afraid to look at the code or build POC’s

    • Knowledge of the payments and Billing domain

    • Experience of influencing functional and technical design change

    • Demonstrated accountability for a production service having contributed to that service build

    • Great communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Design/Architecture

    • Knowledgeable on Service Architecture

    • Knowledge on current technology architectures and approaches such as Event Driven Design, Domain Driven Design, Event Sourcing & CQRS

    • Knowledgeable on Architectural best practices, not wedded to any technologies and tools. Experience of applying best tech, tool or architectural principle to a solution

  • Technical Knowledge

    • Experience in Functional programming

    • Experience of designing big data applications

    • Knowledge of building scalable applications in AWS

    • Knowledge of serverless principles

    • Knowledge of persistence methods including database, s3 and Kafka

It’s a bonus if you have

  • Spark

  • EMR Serverless

  • ECS/Fargate

  • Lambda
