Workspace Digital Journeys is on a mission to deliver an exceptional customer experience for LSEG Workspace users, offering best-in-class migration, onboarding, learning, and support experiences. LSEG Workspace is our flagship financial platform - a Desktop, Web, and Mobile SaaS solution providing unparalleled insights across the full breadth of LSEG data.

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Lead Software Engineer to join the Workspace team in Bucharest. In this Agile, cross‑functional environment, you’ll collaborate with front‑end, back‑end, and quality engineers to build impactful capabilities across the customer digital journey.

Our team accelerates business innovation by creating reusable solutions that handle upgrade workflows and enable safe, gradual feature rollouts across user segments. This role focuses on redefining our existing .NET/on‑prem platform into a modern, cloud‑based stack. Responsibilities include developing the Upgrade Advisor front‑end, AWS/Azure back‑end services, and in‑product APIs that empower customer self‑service.

The ideal candidate brings strong proficiency in JavaScript, Node.js, and TypeScript, practical experience with .NET/C#/WebAPI, and deep knowledge of cloud platforms. Success in this role requires a proven track record to deliver scalable, efficient, and resilient software solutions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of professional experience in software development

  • Proficiency in Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript (future stack)

  • Proficiency in .NET/C#/WebAPI (legacy stack)

  • Strong expertise in cloud platforms, including AWS (e.g. ECS, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB) and Azure (e.g. App Services, Azure Functions, Cosmos DB)

  • Experience with containerisation tools like Docker

  • In-depth knowledge of RESTful API design and micro-services architecture

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Software Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain back-end systems using Node.js, ensuring scalability, security, and high performance

  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code

  • Conduct code reviews and establish standard processes for software development

System Design and Architecture

  • Architect, deploy, and run applications on AWS and Azure platforms

  • Optimise cloud infrastructure for cost-efficiency and performance

  • Lead architectural decisions for back-end systems, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical requirements

  • Collaborate with Product, Design, DevOps to build end-to-end solutions

  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and system issues

  • Implement robust monitoring and alerting solutions

Project Management

  • Participate in sprint planning, task estimation, and roadmap development

  • Ensure timely delivery of projects, meeting both technical and business objectives

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Familiarity with front-end frameworks e.g. Angular, React

  • Knowledge of security and compliance standards

  • Exposure to serverless architecture and event-driven systems
