What you'll own as the Development Manager Senior
We are looking for a dedicated Development Manager to coordinate a strong team of Software Engineers. You will foster collaboration and innovation; you will unlock continuous learning while helping the engineers to keep solutions compliant with current internal policies and regulatory requirements.
As part of your responsibilities, you will:
manage multiple Software Engineers, split across multiple development teams
facilitate team members growth (functional, technical) by offering the suited context to acquire or strengthen new/existing skills or via internal trainings
participate in all recruitment phases and onboarding of new team members
ensure that appropriate technical standards are in place and that these are consistently met
ensure alignment with the Acquiring Platform architecture roadmap
drive continuous improvement and challenging the team to constantly exceed past performance
work closely with project/program management as well as managers of related applications or functions
fully understand and constantly communicate the technical roadmap and strategic direction to your teams
take technical responsibility for all stages in the software development process
attend program level planning meetings and ensure plans can be delivered by the development teams
focus on people motivation and retention, performance, and compensation evaluation
What you'll bring
Experience managing Software Engineers, preferably in medium/large companies; exposure to multicultural environments and different stakeholders
Proven management and people skills, ability to manage personnel activities of staff (e.g., hires, mentors, coach, trains, appraises, rewards, motivates, and disciplines, and recommends termination as necessary, 1-on-1's, performance reviews, etc. of direct reports)
Able to make decisions at the appropriate time, considering the needs of the situation, priorities, constraints and the availability of necessary information
Great attention to detail and a result driven approach
Excellent organizational and leadership abilities
Ability to provide direction, expertise, and support to other team members
Responsive, assertive and drive a continuous improvement ethos in all interactions
Ability to work in fast paced environment
Passion about sharing knowledge and best practices
Strong development skills (experience in Java or similar a must)
Knowledge of Engineering, DevOps and Testing best practice
Practical experience of Agile development and associated technical practices (CI/CD, test automation, BDD, TDD etc.)
Passionate about technology and driven to remain current with latest technology trends and developments
Experience of working across the whole software development & support lifecycle
An operational mindset where you care about customer service levels and seize every incident as an opportunity to fix a problem across the estate and progress our technology to be self-operating
Relevant experience of managing development teams for at least 3 years
Ability to work in virtual teams and in matrixed organizations
Excellent communication skills, able to articulate technical and non-technical issues
Fluent English (written/verbal)
It’s a bonus if you have
Knowledge of the global payments industry or a good understanding of payments transaction life cycle
