Role Purpose:
The Accounting Manager within the Shared Services Finance Organization is responsible for overseeing all accounting activities across multiple legal entities in the shipbuilding/manufacturing group. The role ensures accurate financial records, timely closings, and full statutory and tax compliance. The Accounting Manager also plays a strategic role in the SAP ERP implementation, acting as Key User for the Financial Accounting (FI) module, driving system design, testing, and process integration.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Accounting & Compliance
- Lead general ledger (GL), payroll, and tax accounting activities across entities
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings
- Supervise AP and AR teams for invoice processing, payments, and reconciliation
- Ensure compliance with local GAAP, IFRS, VAT, and corporate tax requirements
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits
Payroll & Labor Cost Accounting
- Oversee correct accounting of gross/net salaries, employer contributions, and payroll taxes
- Collaborate with HR and external providers to ensure data integrity and timely postings
Process & Control Ownership
- Maintain internal controls and ensure adherence to accounting policies and audit standards
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives for standardization and efficiency
- Monitor KPIs and SLAs related to accounting processes within the SSC
ERP Implementation – SAP FI Strategic Key User
- Act as strategic key user for the SAP FI module in the group-wide ERP implementation
- Gather business requirements and translate them into system configurations
- Participate in data migration, process testing (UAT), and training
- Drive adoption of standardized workflows and reporting structures post go-live
People & Team Leadership
- Manage and develop a team of approx. 10 accountants
- Oversee task distribution, performance evaluations, and team capability building
- Foster collaboration with Controlling, HR, Procurement, and Operations teams
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics
- Certified Expert Accountant (CECCAR) qualification is a significant advantage
- Other internationally recognized certifications (ACCA, CPA) are also appreciated
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2–3 years in a leadership role
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and local accounting regulations (e.g., Romanian GAAP)
- Experience in a manufacturing or project-based industry (e.g., shipbuilding, automotive, construction)
- Involvement in SAP, or other ERP implementations – ideally as Key User or Process Owner
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
