Role description

The primary goals of this position are to assist in establishing Business Continuity and Crisis Management programs across OpenTable and to provide guidance on delivering the Technology Disaster Recovery (DR) framework.

Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with policies and standards, coordinating business continuity lifecycle activities, supporting IT Disaster Recovery planning, participating in crisis response efforts, and driving overall improvements in organizational resilience maturity.

The role will also be responsible for defining Operational Resilience goals, objectives, and initiatives, delivering all BCMS and Crisis Management lifecycle activities, and reporting to Priceline’s Business Continuity Steering Committee.

 

 

This role provides a hybrid way of working with an onsite presence of 2 days/week.

 

 

Key Job Responsibilities and Duties

 

Program Execution and Assessment

  • Lead the execution of the organization-wide Business Impact Analysis (BIA) and Risk Assessments (RA), collaborating with department leads to identify critical business processes, dependencies, risks, and regulatory requirements.

  • Determine and document specific Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs) based on the BIA findings and approved strategy.

  • Conduct gap analysis between current Technology capabilities (e.g., backup, replication, redundancy) and the defined RTO/RPO targets.

  • Assess the current state of incident response, crisis communication, and recovery procedures across all critical business units.

  • Development of recovery strategies

  • Testing and exercising (Validation)

Implementation Strategy and Planning

  • Drive the development of a comprehensive, phase-based implementation roadmap for the BC/DR program, including milestones, resource allocation, and budget requirements. Liaise with all BHI business teams to develop effective working relationships and documented BCP plans.

  • Design and document the detailed Business Continuity Plans and Disaster Recovery Plans based on assessment findings.

  • Drive the definition of the Crisis Management Framework and the operational procedures for activating the response and recovery teams.

  • Partner on implementation of necessary BC/DR software and tools (e.g., RisKonnect, BIA tools).

  • Translate technical recovery requirements into specific projects for the Engineering and Infrastructure teams.

  • Support in managing incidents and crises within the business unit; using the available tools (Business Continuity Plans and strategies) and structures (crisis management)

  • Contribute to ongoing review and improvement of the operational resilience requirements, aligning with the maturity and changing needs of the organization

  • Support the review and assessment of key 3rd party & partner requirements

  • Ensure alignment to relevant policies and standards

  • Support periodic or ad hoc compliance and audit reviews

  • Ensure understanding and alignment to relevant ISOs, DORA, NIST, and other regulatory requirements

  • Reports to BHI Resilience & Crisis Manager and defines ongoing goals, objectives, and initiatives.

  • Support and align all BCM planning, initiatives, and goals with organizational goals, infrastructure capabilities, and Booking Holdings Inc.'s Brands' requirements.

Role Qualifications and Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in implementing and maturing BC/DR programs, with a solid focus on BIA, risk assessment, and plan development.

  • Technical Skills: Deep technical proficiency in understanding IT infrastructure, data center operations, cloud disaster recovery solutions, and recovery technologies.

  • Methodology Expertise: Deep knowledge of BC/DR standards and frameworks (e.g., ISO 22301, DRI International, NIST).

  • Certification: Relevant professional certification is desired (e.g., CBCP, MBCI).

  • Proven stakeholder management skills at all levels.

  • Strong program management experience.

  • Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy.

  • Ability to build strong relationships with business partners to drive program adoption and ensure collaboration.

  • Willingness to occasionally work nights and/or weekends during a crisis event.

  • This position requires flexibility, independence, technical knowledge, and strong problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguous situations and has a proven track record of delivering results in specialist or manager-level roles.

  • Soft Skills:

    • Exceptional project management skills with a demonstrable ability to lead complex, multi-functional implementation efforts.

    • Analytical attitude for conducting detailed assessments and translating findings into actionable plans.

    • Good communication skills to articulate risks and implementation plans to both technical teams and executive management.
