Partnerships department is composed of 300+ people in 20+ countries driving a significant share of Booking.com’s overall business. The department brings Booking.com experience to a wide audience through partnerships with many airlines, Amazon, and others to offer our products to their customers. Our technology and products make it easy for Partners to access and distribute our content and inventory.
As a Software Engineer you will work in a new development team in our Bucharest Centre of Excellence which will become an integral part of the Marketing Partnerships in Booking.com, joining existing teams in our Amsterdam HQ. Your role would be to integrate new verticals like flights and attractions while developing and improving existing systems.
This role provides a hybrid way of working with an onsite presence of 2 days/week.
Key Job Responsibilities and Duties
Responsible for the development, performance, and scaling of our public facing API as well as internal systems
Work independently as part of an autonomous team and be responsible for making technical decisions within a team
Rapidly developing next-generation scalable, flexible, and high-performance systems
Solving issues with the API and internal systems, prioritizing based on customer impact
Acting as an intermediary for problems, with both technical and non-technical audiences
Contributing to the growth of Booking.com through interviewing, on-boarding, or other recruitment efforts
Perform other tasks required by the direct manager.
Complies with health & safety regulations.
Role Qualifications and Requirements
3+ years software development experience with JAVA; using 2 or more server side programming languages (C#, C++, etc.)
Experience in building and maintaining large scale API’s
Experience with Springboot and Kafka is nice to have
Previous experience with distributed systems
Experience of building for large scale scale
Continuous Quality and Process Improvement
Modern engineering best practices (TDD, observability, cloud computing, DDD….)
Demonstrable experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL or similar relational databases
Experience of working on products that impact a large customer base is an advantage
Preferably a university degree in Mathematics or Software Engineering
Excellent communication; written and spoken
