Role description
The Law Enforcement Investigator will be responsible for responding to law enforcement requests received from authorities around the world seeking data within Booking.com. The team’s principal duty is to make sure that requests are processed professionally, in accordance with the law and Booking.com guidelines and processes.
This role provides a hybrid way of working with an onsite presence of 2 days/week.
Key Job Responsibilities and Duties
Check if the received requests are complete and legally binding to Booking.com (meaning check if we are obliged to release data, and GDPR and/or the law in a specific country is not violated).
Create internal reports for management on for example number of requests, authorities requesting data.
Handle requests received from Law Enforcement agencies from start to finish, including document intake, processing, and follow-up.
Receive and process emergency law enforcement requests both during and outside of normal business hours including weekend duty (on calls).
Communicate and involve relevant internal and external stakeholders to respond to emergency and security cases.
Takes ownership and responds to criminal and legal data requests in accordance with applicable law, Booking.com policies and law enforcement guidelines, by engaging in collaboration with other Booking.com teams such as Customer Service, Legal, Technology, Finance.
Assist in the identification of patterns and trends that might be evident from the processing of certain law enforcement requests.
Utilize a combination of manual and automated tools to compile information potentially responsive to a particular law enforcement request.
Role Qualifications and Requirements
Experience with exploring and analyzing data
Experience providing data support to investigators or analysts, preferably at a global technology company
Understanding of technical data sets, preferably those used by law enforcement agencies to support investigations
A process mindset with experience in process optimization projects and identifying performance improvement opportunities
Strong judgement and decision making ability
