Role description
The CoE Legal and Public Affairs Services team is looking for a Law Enforcement Team Lead who will be responsible for leading a team of two law enforcement specialists responding to law enforcement requests received from authorities around the world who are seeking data from Booking.com. The team’s principal duty is to make sure that requests are processed professionally, in accordance with the law and Booking.com guidelines and processes.
Key Job Responsibilities and Duties
Participate to the day to day work of the function that includes the following:
Check if the received requests are complete and legally binding to Booking.com (meaning check if we are obliged to release data, and GDPR and/or the law in a specific country is not violated)
Handle requests received from Law Enforcement agencies from start to finish, including document intake, processing, and follow-up.
Receive and process emergency law enforcement requests both during and outside of normal business hours including weekend duty (on calls)
Communicate and involve relevant internal and external stakeholders to respond to emergency and security cases
Takes ownership and responds to criminal and legal data requests in accordance with applicable law, Booking.com policies and law enforcement guidelines, by engaging in collaboration with other Booking.com teams such as Customer Service, Legal, Technology, Finance.
Utilize a combination of manual and automated tools to compile information potentially responsive to a particular law enforcement request
- Managing and developing a team of two law enforcement specialists responsible for processing law enforcement requests. In the people manager capacity, act as initial point of escalation for direct reports, coordinate performance by team members of tasks and responsibilities including task delegation, and monitoring of accurate and timely delivery. Conduct individual performance reviews and provide continuing feedback to direct reports identifying areas for improvement in productivity or quality, and offering related guidance and support for continuing improvement. Continue to develop, monitor and report performance metrics for the law enforcement team. Provide guidance and support to direct reports for their personal development and growth in line with business goals, and guide them to identify relevant learning opportunities including formal training sessions and workshops.
Drive the improvement of tooling and systems used by the team to accomplish their work in the most efficient way, including partnering with Central Technology, when necessary.
Internal reporting to leadership about the Law Enforcement function, including informing about unexpected events that might signal some new trends and patterns, as well as identifying and driving implementation of organizational and strategic improvements for the team.
Role Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor Degree
Advanced job knowledge (5-8years)
Written and verbal fluency in English and overall excellent communication skills
Experience managing a team
Capacity to identify potential issues and report to management
Experience with exploring and analyzing data
Experience providing data support to investigators or analysts
Understanding of technical data sets, preferably those used by law enforcement agencies to support investigations
A process mindset with experience in process optimization projects and identifying performance improvement opportunities
Strong judgement and decision making ability
Demonstrates integrity & highly ethical
Actively curious and with critical thinking skills
Displays self-discipline, effective organization skills and manages multiple and often competing priorities
