Role description
As a People Operations & Services Specialist, you will be the heartbeat of the employee experience. You will serve as the first line of support for our Romania-based colleagues, ensuring that every stage of the employee lifecycle—from hire to retire—is handled with precision, empathy, and efficiency.
You won’t just be following processes; you’ll be refining them. By leveraging data from employee queries and staying connected with key stakeholders, you will drive continuous improvement initiatives that reduce administrative friction and elevate our service delivery.
The role will be based in Bucharest (Romania) and reports to the People Services and Operations Team Lead.
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the ability to work independently, as well as be a strong team contributor towards our Booking Holdings and Booking.com People stakeholders. Interpersonal skills, strong communication and the proven ability to work accurately with tight deadlines in a dynamic environment are a must. Key Job Responsibilities and Duties
1. Employee Lifecycle & Systems Management
Data Integrity: Execute employee changes across the full lifecycle within our core systems (Workday).
Support: Resolve employee inquiries via ServiceNow, maintaining high standards for response times (SLAs) and documentation.
Compliance: Manage, issue, and archive employee documentation in strict accordance with legal guidelines and internal processes.
Health&Safety: Ensure 100% compliance with Health & Safety regulations by coordinating the timely and accurate execution of all mandatory requirements.
2. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Payroll & Benefits: Partner with the Payroll team to provide accurate monthly inputs and support the Compensation & Benefits team in program administration. Examples include monthly attendance report (as required) and benefits administration
Strategic Alignment: Liaise with HR Advisory, L&D, and Recruitment to ensure a "one-team" approach and align processes across different business entities (BHI and Bcom).
Policy Guidance: Act as a subject matter expert, explaining complex regulations, policies, and HR procedures to both employees and managers.
3. Operational Excellence & Innovation
Process Improvement: Proactively identify bottlenecks and execute initiatives to streamline workflows and increase team efficiency.
Project Participation: Contribute as a key project member for relevant People Department initiatives.
Quality Control: Perform regular process reviews and quality checks to ensure compliance with global and local employment laws.
4. Enablement & Reporting
Training: Facilitate onboarding and functional training for new hires and stakeholders on People Ops tools and procedures.
Data Insights: Prepare and deliver reports to key stakeholders to track operational targets and team performance.
Role Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent;
2-3 years of relevant experience in People Operations, HR administration on the Romania market;
Experience partnering with internal and external stakeholders across the HR functions;
Customer- oriented mindset with a strong focus on employee experience
Experience with HRIS systems (Workday preferred) and Case Management Systems (ServiceNow preferred);
Excellent Romanian & English written and spoken skills;
Strong communication skills, building and sustaining working relationships;
Ability to work effectively as an individual and as a team member;
Demonstrated strong analytical skills, attention to detail and accuracy;
Passion for continuous improvement of our service to employees as well as of our core processes;
Ability to manage work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment;
