Role description

Privacy Specialists set and complete tactical or operational plans within Privacy and Data Protection. They set objectives and deliver results that have an impact within the context of a wider operational area within the company.

Privacy Specialists are responsible for a wide range of operational activities including but not limited to addressing complex privacy cases, investigations and requests from data subjects and designing controls and technical measures to mitigate privacy and data protection risks.

They must have great communication skills to proactively inform and involve relevant internal stakeholders (e.g. Customer Service, Legal, Technology, Finance) and appropriate responses to data subjects and data protection authorities. 

 

This role provides a hybrid way of working with an onsite presence of 2 days/week.

 

Key Job Responsibilities and Duties 

  • Perform analysis at the business transaction level to understand what happened, and what mitigation measures are to be taken.

  • Assist in Privacy-related initiatives and projects as required and support junior privacy specialists, providing guidance and empowering them to develop their skills.  

  • Work effectively with team members and leadership by communicating Privacy trends and sharing ideas and knowledge and create Privacy awareness while maintaining focus on a positive customer experience.

  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders and data subjects as required, to respond to questions or requests (Privacy and personal data) as a first point of contact on a global scale.

  • Support initiatives that improve the company’s risk management practices as it pertains to the processing of personal data.

  • Lead complex privacy cases by finding and extracting information across networks and systems and support investigations required by inquiries coming from Data Protection Authorities (DPA).

Role Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • At least 3 years of knowledge and experience with regards to privacy and data protection legislations such as GDPR, LGPD, CCPA, etc

  • Ability to investigate, retrieve and analyze data

  • Ability to prioritize incoming escalations and requests appropriately using clear communications

  • Strong decision making ability and self-disciplined

  • Strong assertive communication skills

  • CIPP/E (IAPP) or CIPT certifications are a plus
