The Acceleration team will develop new features and expand the self-serving capabilities of existing systems to handle partner accounts at scale, with initial focus on automating backend operational tasks and improving onboarding and partner setup.
This role provides a hybrid way of working with an onsite presence of 2 days/week.
Key Job Responsibilities and Duties
Autonomy and Leadership: Delivers business impact independently across a team and acts as a technical leader within and across multiple teams, driving cross-team initiatives.
Technical Skills: Proficient in relevant programming languages, writing maintainable and readable code, and applying standard software design patterns and testing strategies.
System Ownership: Oversees the entire service, monitoring application health, defining SLIs (Service Level Indicators) and SLOs (Service Level Objectives), and managing deployments.
Incident Management: Resolves production issues promptly, conducts root cause analysis, and contributes to postmortem documentation.
Architectural Guidance: Provides architectural insights, evaluates and designs solutions considering business needs and emerging technologies.
Effective Communication and Mentorship: Communicates clearly with stakeholders, actively listens, and negotiates solutions while mentoring and coaching less experienced engineers.
Continuous Improvement: Implements best practices for process and quality improvements, enhancing code quality and efficiency
Recruiting: Contributing to the growth of Booking.com through interviewing, on-boarding, or other recruitment efforts
Role Qualifications and Requirements
8+ years software development experience;
5+ years of experience in using 2 or more server side programming languages, preferably Java and / or TypeScript
3+ years of experience in front-end development using React with TypeScript or JavaScript
Extensive experience in building and maintaining resilient and scalable microservices
Sound experience with Springboot and Kafka
Experience in building and maintaining distributed systems
Continuous Quality and Process Improvement ambassador
Advocate of modern engineering best practices (TDD, observability, cloud computing, DDD….)
Extensive experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL or similar relational databases
Experience of working on products that impact a large customer base is an advantage
Preferably a university degree in Mathematics or Software Engineering
