Role description
The TPM Manager is responsible for ensuring the team's success by driving and overseeing program deliverables, as well as leading the team in completing initiatives and objectives within the team's scope, while also contributing to them individually.
The role functions as a bidirectional translation layer between the business and technical fields, ensuring alignment between business expectations and technical feasibility. We lead programs involving technical solutions to business problems involving multiple, cross-functional product teams by owning the answers to “When” and “Who”. We define clear scope and realistic delivery plans, manage change and risk, and measure progress against clearly-defined success metrics.
This role provides a hybrid way of working with an onsite presence of 2 days/week.
Key Job Responsibilities and Duties
Manage & Mentor: Lead a team of Technical Program Managers, providing coaching, regular feedback, and career development planning
Performance Management: Set clear goals, conduct performance reviews, and address underperformance constructively
Hiring & Onboarding: Drive the recruitment process for new TPMs and ensure successful onboarding and integration into the team
Resource Planning: Allocate TPM resources effectively across different initiatives to balance workload and business priorities
Portfolio Management: Oversee a portfolio of technical programs, ensuring alignment with broader business objectives and engineering roadmaps
Process Excellence: Define and improve TPM standards, frameworks, and best practices (e.g., Agile, planning, risk management) to boost team efficiency
Stakeholder Management: Act as a point of escalation for complex dependencies and cross-functional blockers; build strong relationships with Engineering Directors and Product leaders
Technical Competence: Engage in technical architectural discussions to ensure program feasibility and help the team make trade-off decisions
Role Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor's Degree
5 to 8 years of relevant experience
A proven track record of leading teams and a visionary strategy to deliver global, company-wide platform services at enterprise large scale
Previous experience delivering technical programs is required
Data driven and results-oriented with strong analytical and quantitative skills
