Role description
We are looking for a person who is both strong technically and process oriented to work with teams across the Booking.com landscape. You will work directly with customers, engineers, and senior leadership across multiple business units to scope and track projects. You will also assess risk, anticipate bottlenecks, and identify project milestones. A successful candidate will have a technical background, a mastery of program/project tools and techniques, and a proficiency in business and technical writing. You will closely work with engineering teams to help define and track strategic initiatives for future projects.
The IT Services Department owns and maintains all the corporate technology our Booking.com workforce needs day-to-day, so they can in turn deliver great products to our customers.
This includes, for instance; SaaS applications, cloud infrastructure, identity and SSO, collaboration tools, productivity suites, communication platforms, remote connectivity, laptops and mobile devices, video conferencing, network infrastructure, ITSM and a variety of other custom-developed applications.
This will be achieved through defining, analyzing, and documenting requirements in order to identify the correct solution. As part of this role, you will also define scope objectives and ensure systems support multiple business strategies to guarantee solutions are scalable or practical for the problem at hand. Part of this role will require you to analyze, evaluate, refine, and review processes of both your projects and your stakeholders.
This role provides a hybrid way of working with an onsite presence of 2 days/week.
Key Job Responsibilities and Duties
- Responsible for delivery of complex programs and projects with significant business impact.
- Lead delivery of technical solutions to business problems as cross-team initiatives.
- Ensure cross-organization priority alignment to deliver program outcomes.
- Create realistic delivery plans based on end-to-end technical solutions, with appropriate data and metrics.
- Visualize and manage risks, issues, and dependencies to enable delivery success.
- Define and maintain program documentation, ensure functional and non-functional requirements are captured, and partner with engineering teams to ensure supporting documentation is produced and maintained.
- Apply best practices to programs and projects based on experience with a number of agile and blended approaches, as well as effectively coordinating the implementation across teams using different approaches.
- Drive the planning, documentation, and communication of strategic programs with leaders at Booking.com and Booking Holdings.
- Responsible for the definition and implementation of effective program initiatives to help engineering teams deliver better service.
- Ensure effective communication and stakeholder management.
- Drive delivery governance ensuring accountability, risk management, and consistent reporting across diverse teams.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement in delivery practices.
Role Qualifications and Requirements
- 5+ years in Product/Project/Program Management or Technical PM, working directly with engineering or software development teams to implement, build, and launch products, features, or programs.
- Computer Science / Engineering Bachelor’s degree or related technical field
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, proficiency in business and technical writing
- Program management skills and proficiency in Agile Methodologies and Delivery Management using lean governance
- Strong business awareness and technical vision
- Experience with cloud infrastructure and business applications delivered in Software as a Service model
- Exposure to DevOps practices
- Exposure to Modern Identity Management (Okta, Entra ID, Ping Identity), networking, remote access, and internal customer-facing services.
- Nice to have: programming background, data-driven delivery, regulatory/compliance exposure.
- Nice to have exposure to business continuity planning
- Able to work effectively with Jira/ Jira Align or similar products.
- Demonstrate curiosity and ability to understand architectural and technical aspects of projects and long-term consequences
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and solving problems.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to uncover underlying business needs, translate them into clear program requirements, and align engineering teams to deliver effective solutions within agreed timelines.
