We've been at this for 23 years, and somewhere along the way, "that software company from Romania" turned into something a bit bigger.
Most of the stories start with “Once upon a time”, but our story started with 2 people, Alex & Simona Lăpușan, and a relevant mission: to shape and employ technology so it inspires and empowers people and organizations to achieve their utmost potential. Of course they couldn’t make it alone, so more than 500 enthusiastic people joined them for making me the good organization that I am today.
Who we are today
Zitec is a technology company with 23 years behind it, and a growing international footprint ahead. The company was founded by Alex & Simona Lăpușan with a relevant mission: to shape and employ technology so it inspires and empowers people and organizations to achieve their utmost potential. What started as a small local team in 2003 has grown into a digital transformation partner working on platforms and products used by more than 20 million people every year, across more than 30 countries.
Along the way, we've delivered over 1,100 projects. We now count more than 500 specialists and collaborators, working with organizations that need technology to actually hold up under pressure: financial institutions, logistics networks, healthcare providers, retailers, and public institutions.
In 2026, we went through a rebrand. Not because we became a different company, but because our identity had stopped matching who we already were. The new look reflects the same thing we've always stood for: technology with real impact, built by senior teams, in partnerships that tend to last for years rather than months.
What we do
If you join Zitec, chances are your work will end up somewhere people don't expect to find software, which is usually a sign the software is doing its job.
In financial services, we build platforms that process tens of millions of transactions every year. In logistics and last-mile delivery, our teams support ecosystems that move millions of parcels annually and help couriers plan more efficient, lower-emission routes. In healthcare, the solutions we've built give over a million patients access to their medical records and appointments, and tens of thousands more access to telemedicine. In the public sector, we work on projects funded through Romania's national recovery plan, including a platform that lets citizens access state asset auctions online, already used by more than a million people. In retail, we build the systems behind omnichannel operations that need to stay up and running around the clock.
We also design and maintain Mirro, our own product for performance management and internal communication, used by teams at companies like McDonald's, eMAG, and Lactalis, and Regista, which connects citizens to more than 1,200 public institutions through a single account.
The common thread across all of it is the same: we get involved early, ask questions before proposing solutions, and use technology, including AI, only where it genuinely improves the outcome. When something simpler does the job better, we choose that instead.
People-first, in practice
Sustainable performance needs a foundation, and for us that means trust, flexibility, and enough space for people to actually grow into their roles rather than just fill them. We work in a way that respects people's time outside the office as much as the hours spent in it, and we try to build a culture where colleagues can be direct with each other, disagree respectfully, and still feel like they belong.
None of this is a claim we make lightly: our retention rate sits around 95%, which tells us that once people find their footing here, most of them choose to stay.
And there is more: our colleagues are sailing addicts (besides the fact that they are always on the wave & ready to explore uncharted territories), football professionals (with a lot of trophies on the shelf) & the best at running… both code and marathons. Also, we’ve already saved more than 17.000 lives through our blood donation campaign, #cei1024! Wrapping up, where there is no fun, there is no game.
And all the #zitecpeople would tell that fun & work perfectly intertwine! Our technology passionates are certified specialists by global partners such as Google, Microsoft, AWS, and Facebook. They have successfully delivered over 650 projects in more than 20 countries, covering industries such as FinTech, Medical, Tourism & Hospitality, Education, Retail & Distribution, Logistics & Transportation, and e-Commerce. What are we most proud of?

It’s all about trust, attention to detail, creativity & magic… and a tailored approach to our clients’ needs to fulfill their organizational missions.
Why B Corp matters here
In 2026, Zitec became the first IT company in Romania to receive B Corp certification. It's easy to treat that as a badge, so it's worth explaining what it actually means.
B Corp certification comes from an independent, rigorous assessment that looks at how a company treats its employees, contributes to its community, manages its environmental impact, and governs itself, not just how it performs financially. Passing it means an external body has verified that Zitec meets high standards across all of those areas at once. It also isn't permanent: the certification has to be renewed every three years, which keeps us accountable to keep improving rather than resting on a result from one point in time.
For you, working in a B Corp certified company means that the place you're joining has already committed, formally and publicly, to being measured on how it treats its people and the world around it, not only on what it delivers to clients.
