We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Architect with extensive expertise in SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) to lead the development and implementation of a Linux infrastructure management system for a large retail client.
The role entails designing a robust architecture for SUSE Manager for Retail, ensuring seamless software upgrades and security patch automation across the client’s fleet of POS devices. Your technical leadership will play a pivotal role in meeting enterprise standards for reliability, scalability, and security.
Responsibilities
- Design the architecture for SUSE Manager for Retail, including integration, security, and topology within the client’s infrastructure
- Define best practices, standards, and operating procedures for SUSE Linux-based solutions
- Implement critical solution components, such as Kickstart profiles and Salt state configurations
- Develop and oversee automated software deployment methods for managing 3rd-party POS terminal software
- Ensure system compliance with enterprise-grade standards for security, performance, and scalability optimization
- Lead test planning and execution to validate hardware compatibility across all peripherals
- Produce architectural diagrams, detailed implementation guides, and operational documentation, including deployment checklists and runbooks
Requirements
- Proven experience in designing and implementing SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) solutions with advanced configurations
- Strong expertise in managing Linux-based on-prem infrastructure systems
- Experience with SUSE Manager for Retail (SUMA) for automation and orchestration
- Background in monitoring tools like Prometheus and Nagios coupled with proactive system optimization skills
- Proficiency with Generative AI (GenAI) tools and Machine Learning libraries to optimize infrastructure solutions
Nice to have
- Knowledge of deployment strategies in retail environments such as POS and ePOS
- Background in Saltstack for configuration management and automation
- Familiarity with retail-focused solution architectures
