Your Impact

 

As a Senior Systems Administrator, you will have the responsibility of reviewing, planning and evaluating systems and custom deployments to the organization’s global production infrastructure. This level III position within the department has the added responsibility of being a subject matter expert in multiple platforms/systems that are administered. The position requires detailed technical knowledge of specific systems and network elements and ability to troubleshoot those elements completely. If needed, recommend and/or design new solutions to faulty or outdated components within the given production elements.

 

What the role offers

 

  • Working with other departments and outside vendors to design and seamlessly implement any production change required.
  • Ensuring changes have no customer impact, or the smallest impact possible given the constraints of the implementation, to the overall production system.
  • Creating and maintaining preventative maintenance schedules for any given system element.
  • Providing  support of systems and services for which you are the Subject Matter Expert.
  • Deploying new production servers/devices fully configured and completely production ready into the production network.
  • Providing documentation for all new design implementations engineered from within the group or assist in documentation for projects jointly engineered with other departments.
  • Managing support-request tickets to meet or exceed metrics.
  •  Develop and maintain production server and service documentation.
  • Cross-Train production support & engineering personnel to ensure knowledge sharing
  •  Contributing to projects by creating, supporting, and growing the tools and automation to support IT Operations

 

What you need to succeed

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent of work experience
  • Extensive experience as a Senior Linux Administrator in a medium to large scale environment
  • Strong knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  • Strong familiarity with "Red Hat Satellite" and/or "SuSE Manager"
  • Experienced with using centralized configuration and management tools (eg. Ansible, or Puppet)
  • Strong familiarity in PowerShell or Python to support complex infrastructure management tools
  • Expert knowledge of disk virtualization and management via LVM is considered a plus
  • Strong background in troubleshooting server load, bandwidth, and server-side networking issues
  • Experienced with managing and configuring Active Directory domain-joined Linux servers, especially using SSSD
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and public speaking skills; proven ability to lead cross-functional meetings and collaborate effectively within globally dispersed teams.

 

Beneficial/preferred qualifications

  • Knowledgeable about Linux Mail Transport Agent configuration (eg. Sendmail)
  • Experienced with advanced filesystems such as btrfs or zfs
  • Familiar with managing Linux servers directly attached to a Storage Area Network
  • Experience with configuring and managing servers in a cloud computing environment
  • Knowledge of server and system security
  • Familiarity with the configuration and management of containers
  • Strong background in x509 certificate lifecycles and management
