Miele Tehnica is a subsidiary of Miele & Cie. KG, Germany. We produce electronic components for a wide range of Miele appliances, such as washing machines, tumble dryers, vacuum cleaners, ovens and others. The products Miele offers to its customers set the standards for durability, performance, ease of use, energy efficiency, design and service products.
We are looking for a Database System Administrator, passionate about managing and improving performant and high-available hybrid database environments. Joining the central database team, you’ll help us operate, automate and improve different database systems for all kind of Miele applications.
Responsibilities:
- Planning, installation and updates of database software;
- Maintainance and administration of database environment, backup and recovery, high availability and performance monitoring/tuning;
- Research, recommendation and implementation of new technologies, skills, and methods to proactively manage the databases and automate processes;
- Troubleshooting root cause of database issues and recommending solutions or workarounds.
- Solution oriented communication with other IT personnel, application owners and vendors to provide guidance, manage project implementation or support users;
- Documentation of database environment, new technologies, processes and improvements;
- Participation in a 24x7 on-call rotation on a weekly basis.
Must have:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server systems and virtualization;
- 3+ years experience in MS SQL Server administration in high-availability environments;
- Experience with Microsoft PowerShell for automation & scripting;
- Good communication and problem solving skills;
- English language required, German language skills are a benefit.
Nice to have:
- Experience with managing cloud (database) systems, especially MS Azure;
- Experience with other database systems like for example PostgreSQL or Oracle;
- Advanced knowledge of database performance and root cause analyses.

Education:
- Completed training or Bachelor’s degree in computer related field;
