Meetups at our Bucharest office this summer

04.11.2025

This June, our Bucharest office was full of excitement as we got together with two of our close-knit communities: Bucharest Java user group and Bucharest Big Data community. Let's take a look at how the events unfolded:

Meetup with the Java community
On 17 June, we met with the Java user group community in Bucharest for a meetup on Domain-Driven Design and the Android engine. Our senior Java developer, Oana Toma, explored how clean architecture (aka hexagonal architecture) can be integrated with Domain-Driven Design, focusing on the solutions addressed by this transformation.

Moreover, Google’s tech lead manager, Sorin Bâscă, took the stage to present the latest updates and features made in Android Runtime.

Bucharest Big Data meetup
On 18 June, the Bucharest Big Data meetup series returned to our office with an event focused on all things related to efficient Kafka architectures. Our seasoned speaker and chapter lead, Mihăiță Țintă, shared his perspective on transitioning from strategic modeling to a modular Spring-based architecture using Kafka, emphasizing the significance of performance testing in optimizing application efficiency.

Mihăiță (Miță) has captured the essence of his presentation in this insightful article published on our blog on Medium.  Give it a read and get inspired!

In the second part of the meetup, Harry Kimpel, principal developer relations engineer at New Relic, unraveled the complexities of tracing Apache Kafka with OpenTelemetry, demonstrating how distributed tracing can offer visibility into your microservices architecture.
