Compare This February, our Bucharest office felt more alive than ever as colleagues from ING Hubs Romania and ING Bank Romania joined nearly two thousand participants across 12 countries in a 10-hour global innovation sprint: the ING CTO Global Hackathon.
Working side by side, teams explored AI and built demos under real-time pressure. Romania closed the day with a remarkable result: two of the four global awards, both in the 'AI for Productivity' category, won by ING Hubs Romania’s Hackcelerators and ING Bank Romania’s SINtax. Two additional Romanian teams reached the finals, Cyberbot and !HallucinatING, showcasing clear thinking and strong engineering.
Across our office, almost 500 colleagues in 81 teams, together with many supporters cheering from the sidelines, shaped the atmosphere that defined the day: focused work, shared learning, and moments to unwind, including VR games that added a playful break from coding.
